Most pages on this question are vague or are a sales pitch in disguise. This one gives you the honest numbers: the three things you actually pay for, indicative cost-per-click ranges by Indian industry, the monthly budget you realistically need, and what an agency charges to run it. Then you can estimate your own with our free calculator.
In India, Google Ads has no fixed price, you control the budget. You pay in three layers: the ad budget you give Google (commonly Rs 20,000 to Rs 2,00,000+ per month for an SMB), the cost per click that budget buys (indicatively Rs 5 to Rs 150+, depending heavily on your industry), and, if you hire help, an agency management fee. These are planning ranges, not a quote; your real cost depends on your sector, competition and how well the account is run.
The money Google spends showing your ads. You set it, you can change it any day, and there is no minimum imposed by Google. This is usually the largest part of your cost.
What you pay a freelancer or agency to build, run and improve the campaigns. Charged as a flat monthly fee or a percentage of ad spend. This is optional, but a badly run account wastes far more than the fee.
Account structure, conversion tracking, landing page and first creatives. Some agencies fold this into month one; others charge a one-time fee. Always ask which.
CPC is what you pay each time someone clicks your ad. It varies enormously by how many businesses are bidding on the same searches. The ranges below are indicative planning figures from typical Indian search campaigns, not quotes. High-competition, high-value categories cost far more per click than everyday consumer ones.
| Industry | Indicative CPC (Rs) |
|---|---|
| Local services, home services, repairs | Rs 8 to 40 |
| Ecommerce, retail, consumer products | Rs 5 to 35 |
| Real estate, interiors, construction | Rs 25 to 120 |
| Education, coaching, study abroad | Rs 15 to 90 |
| Healthcare, clinics, cosmetic | Rs 20 to 100 |
| Finance, insurance, loans, legal | Rs 50 to 250+ |
| B2B, software, SaaS | Rs 30 to 200 |
Treat these as starting assumptions for planning, not a promise. Your real CPC moves with competition, location, match types and your Quality Score.
A budget only works if it buys enough clicks to produce enough enquiries to learn from. Too little and the campaign never gathers the data to improve. These are indicative monthly ad-budget tiers for an Indian SMB; pick the one that matches your goal, not your fear.
One city or service, testing the waters. Enough to learn what converts.
Multiple services or cities, steady lead flow, room to scale winners.
Competitive category or fast expansion, where ad spend is a primary channel.
This is the part most pages stay vague about. Here is how management fees actually work in India:
Whatever the model, your ad budget should sit in your own Google Ads account, not the agency's, so you keep ownership and full visibility. A good manager earns their fee by wasting less of your budget than the fee costs; a bad one is the most expensive thing in the table above.
