The figure above is our own indicative estimate from the live international spot price plus India import duty and GST. The official Indian rate is set daily by the bodies below and varies by city, purity and your jeweller. Tap any source to check its exact number.
Gold is priced per gram in India. MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) and IBJA (the India Bullion and Jewellers Association) set the benchmark 24K rate. Jewellers convert it to 22K by multiplying by 0.916. Making charges are added on top, typically 8 to 25 percent of gold value for handmade jewellery and 3 to 12 percent for machine made, then 3 percent GST applies on the total.
Gold price formula: 22K gold value = (grams times 24K rate times 0.916) 18K gold value = (grams times 24K rate times 0.750) Total price = gold value plus making charges plus GST (3 percent)
