Khata Transfer After Property Purchase — Bangalore Guide
Quick Answer: Khata transfer must happen within 3 months of property registration. Apply at your ward BBMP office or online via bbmptax.karnataka.gov.in. Pay 2% of stamp duty as Khata transfer fee. Takes 30–60 days.
Khata is BBMP's record of property ownership used for property tax. After you buy a property and register the sale deed, you must transfer Khata to your name. Without Khata in your name, you cannot pay property tax, get building plan sanctions, or obtain utility connections in your name.
