What makes a good title and meta description
Your title tag is the blue clickable line in Google and the single biggest on-page ranking signal. Lead with the keyword people actually search, keep it under about 580 pixels so it does not get cut off, and make it read like something a person would click, not a list of keywords.
The meta description does not directly affect ranking, but it heavily affects how many people click. Treat it as ad copy: state the value, answer the search, and give a reason to choose you over the nine other results. Keep it inside roughly 920 pixels on desktop so the whole thought is visible.
Both should be unique on every page. Duplicate titles across a site confuse Google and waste the chance to target different keywords. That is the most common issue we fix on Indian business websites.
Meta tag checker FAQ
What is the ideal title tag length?
Google shows roughly the first 580 pixels of a title, which is about 50 to 60 characters. This tool measures the actual pixel width, not just the character count, because wide letters like W and M use more space than thin ones like i and l. Aim to keep your main keyword inside the visible part.
What is the ideal meta description length?
Google typically displays about 920 pixels on desktop, roughly 150 to 160 characters, and less on mobile. Write a complete, compelling sentence or two that fits inside that, with your value and a reason to click.
Does Google always use my meta description?
No. Google rewrites the snippet for about 60 to 70 percent of results when it thinks something on the page matches the query better. A strong meta description still matters because it is used often, especially for branded and direct searches, and it sets the tone.
Can I check a page that is already live?
Yes. Paste the page address and the tool fetches its current title, meta description and Open Graph tags, then previews them. You can also type tags in manually to test a draft before you publish.
